10-day cultural festival of Shilpakala Academy concludes

The curtain fell on the 10-day-
long cultural festival orgnised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) at the Academy’s
National Music and dance
auditorium last Sunday.
Aiming to display our rich Bangladeshi heritage, BSA
organised the festival which
featured Poncho Kobir Gaan, patriotic songs, Baul songs,
Film songs, Palagaan, Bhawaiya songs and others.
The festival ended with the
performance of Bhawaiya songs on June 11. The programme began on June 1 with the performance
of Poncho Kobir Gaan (songs of five poets– Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Rajnikant, Atul Prasad and DL Roy). The second day of the programme featured patriotic songs, while the third day of the programme featured Baul song ‘Achin Pakhi’.
The fourth day of the
programme featured Film songs, while the fifth day of the programme featured songs
rendered by eminent singers Bulbul Mahalanobis, Akramul Islam, Saidur Rahman Boyati, Timir Nandi, Fatema Tuz Zohra, and Jayanta Chattopadhyay.
The sixth and seventh-day
programme featured folk songs. On the eighth and ninth day the event ‘Notun Jouboner Dut’
featured songs performed
by child artistes of BSA.
