Chattogram Zilla Parishad Chairman ATM Peyarul Islam said Ramgarh land port is more important than the Benapole land port on country’s economic consideration.
He made the remarks at a press conference at Chattogram Press Club on Tuesday.
Peyerul Islam said the present government is implementing various development projects in Chattogram, which will take Chattogram to a more unique height in the future.
With the opening of Ramgarh land port, trade with India will expand further. From Chattogram to Benapole is often needed. But with the launch of Ramgarh, the imports exportes through Benapole land port will be imported at less time and at the expense, which is positive for the whole country for economic considerations. Ramgarh will play a more role in using the Mirsarai Economic Zone, Chattogram port and deep sea port of Matarbari.
He also said that communication system has been developed in North Chattogram, including Mirsarai-Fatikchari, focusing on Ramgarh land port. Especially the Bangladesh-India Friendship Bridge-1 built on the Feni River, which connects Ramgarh to the Tripura state of India.
Meanwhile, the foundation stone is going to be set up today, the work of widening and modernisation of the Bariarhat-Hyanko Ramgarh road is 5km in length, which will make Dhaka’s communication easier with Ramgarh land port. The project will have 9 bridges of 209.25 metres in length and 23 bridges of 107 metres in length.
The cost of which has been estimated at Tk1107cr. Apart from this, it will take less time to reach Dhaka from Khagrachari Rangamati.
North District Awami League and Jubo League leaders were present at the press conference.
In fact, the tramshipment consignments from Chattogram port will be able to travel from Chattogram port to India in just four hours using this land port, about 112km from the port of Chattogram. Direct contact with Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal will be established in the northeast of Tripura.
