The residents of the city’s Mohammadpur area have sought the Prime Minister’s intervention to protect the land of the 63-year-old historic Baitus Salam Jame Masjid immediately.

They made the call at a human chain organised by worshipers of the Mosque on Friday after Jum,mah prayer.
Speaking at the human chain, the Mosque’s Imam Moulana Saiduzzaman said, “People of Iqbal road, Sir Syed road, Asad Avenue and Shahjan road pray here. An orphanage centre and a madrasa have also been running in the Masjid clomplex since its inception.”

“Besides, the ‘M’ mark in the area of 52.35 katha land of the Mosque has been shown in the government’s design paper from the beginning of it. But, a person named Mohammad Jasim is illegally trying to occupy 12.5 kata land of the mosque by making fake documents with the help of some unscrupulous officials of the Housing Authority,” he said.

Jasim has also made fake documents of possession of the land, failing to present any of the people from whom he bought the land.
