BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday said that withdrawing protocol from diplomatic missions hadn’t happened in the last 51 years in the country.
“There has been no incident of withdrawing security protocol for foreign diplomatic missions in the last 51 years since the country gained independence,” Dr. Mosharraf said.
“The government did not get any benefits from foreigners, so their decisions have become irrational,” Dr. Mosharraf said while addressing a rally in the capital.
The senior BNP leader said, “Be careful not to step into any conspiracy or trap. The government will be ousted and be forced to hold elections under a non-partisan government. There is corruption in Bangladesh from the highest level to the lowest.”
The BNP leader said that people of the country refrain from participating in votes under the ruling government. Only 14pc of the votes were cast in a by-election a few days ago. This means that no one wants to vote under this government, he added.
The BNP leader also said, “BNP men with the people have to be prepared seriously for forming huge uprising against the misrule of this government.”
The rally started from capital’s Badda area. Dhaka North City unit BNP Convener Aman Ullah Aman presided over the event and moderated by member secretary Aminul Haque.
BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas led another rally from Basabo Balur math area ogranised by the party’s Dhaka South City unit.
Mirza Abbas said, “This government has continuously increasing prices of everything including gas, oil, electricity and others forgetting that they already have hiked those price many times. They have dementia so that forgetting everything done days before.”
He said that the government has filed at least 50 cases against the top leaders of the BNP.
Mirza Abbas alleged that the government has conducted huge torture against the BNP leaders and activists across the country.
“This government has robbed the people of this country by looting banks, stock markets and through Hallmark and such others scams. Now there is an attempt to loot our sovereignty, the people will not let it happen in our lifetime. We will ensure the defence of the country by bringing down this government,” he said.
