Sylhet Bureau  :
Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury claims that he is feeling insecure after Ansar members were withdrawn for his personal and residential security.

The mayor came up with the claim at a press conference at City Bhaban on Wednesday.
Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, “They are trying to isolate me from the people in various ways. As part of this, on Tuesday (May 16) at around 10:30 pm, 6 members of the Ansar forces who were engaged in the security of my house were suddenly withdrawn by the newly joined Ansar and VDP commanders in Sylhet.
Mayor Arif said, neither I nor anyone from CCIC was informed about this in any way, verbally or in writing. However, for the past 6 years, 24 members of Ansar forces have been engaged in the security of various important installations of CSIC, including Nagarbhaban and my (mayor’s) house office, in exchange for monthly salary.

On Tuesday night, 6 people assigned to the security of my (Mayor’s) house and the office adjacent to the house were suddenly withdrawn. It is disturbing my security.
Mayor Ariful Haque mentioned that he is being harassed in various ways ahead of the next SCC election, “Recently, wherever I am going in the metropolis and even taking pictures with me, it is seen that they are being arrested by the police at night. Taking someone to remand. I am the elected representative of the people. Honorable Prime Minister has sworn me in the mayor’s chair. But some zealous officials of the administration have probably forgotten how to evaluate such a public representative.
