The first-ever BUFT National Career Fest 2023 was held at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by Chairman of the Board of Trustees Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP. The event was aimed at providing a platform for students, fresh graduates, and job seekers to interact with industry professionals and explore career opportunities in the rapidly growing apparel, textile, and fashion industries. Over 50 companies participated in the event, including some of the biggest names in the industry. Speaking at the event, Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP, highlighted the importance of such events in bridging the gap between academia and industry and providing a platform for young professionals to kick start their careers in the industry.
BGMEA President and Founder Trustee Board Member Faruque Hassan, Trustee Board Members Mr. Moshiul Azam Shajal and Mr. Mohammed Nasir also spoke on the occasion and emphasized the need for industry-academia collaborations to promote innovation and drive growth in the industry. The Vice Chancellor of BUFT, Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman, and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, also spoke at the event and highlighted the university’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students.
After the inauguration, the guests visited the stalls set up by the participating companies at the fair and interacted with the students and job seekers.
The fair provided an excellent opportunity for the students to showcase their talents and skills to the industry professionals and learn about the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
The event was concluded with a closing ceremony, where the Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor and BUFT Trustee Board Member Mr. Atiqul Islam graced the occasion with his presence. He commended the efforts of the university and the industry in promoting job opportunities and skill development in the region and expressed his commitment to supporting such initiatives in the future. BKMEA president Mr. AKM Salim Osman, MP; Managing Director of Pacific Associates Mr. Shahabuddin and Fiona Managing Director Kamrul Hasan also spoke on the occasion.
