Chattogram Bureau :
On the one hand, the production has decreased due to the energy problem, on the other hand, the demand has increased due to the excessive heat.
Hour by hour load shedding has occurred in various areas of the port city of Chittagong due to a huge gap between production and demand.
People of all ages, including children, are suffering due to hourly load shedding on the hottest days of the week.
Due to non-availability of electricity, the production activities of the factory are also disrupted.
The concerned officials of the electricity department said that on Monday, the electricity demand in the country was 15 thousand megawatts.
However, due to the energy crisis and reduced gas pressure, electricity production is about 3,000 megawatts less than the demand.
At this time, the electricity demand in Chittagong was around 1,300 MW.
However, against the demand, electricity is getting 250-300 MW less.
Due to non-availability of electricity as per demand, hourly load shedding started in the port city of Chittagong from Sunday night.
This load shedding continued throughout the day on Monday. Officials of the electricity department have expressed fear that this situation may continue for a long time if there is no rain.
