Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, called a daylong hartal (strike) in Dhaka and 13 others adjacent districts for Monday. Chhatra Dal made the announcement on Sunday afternoon through a statement, signed by its office secretary Md Abdus Sattar Patwary. The hartal has been called in protest of the confinement of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, the statement added. The hartal will be effective in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Tangail, Narsinghdi, Munshiganj, Manikganj, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Jamalpur and Netrokona districts, said the statement. Chhatra Dal central President Rajib Ahsan and General Secretary Akramul Hasan called out to all local JDC units concerned to “make tomorrow’s hartal a success.” Earlier on the day, BNP Joint General Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi reiterated that the ongoing countrywide blockade of the party would continue.– risingbd.com
