Nancy’s gold medal was carried away in a bag of dirt

The Court ordered domestic worker
Mst Tahmina and her husband Shakil
to be sent to jail in case of theft of
ornaments including National Film Award winning singer Nazmun Munira Nancy. The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam gave this order on Thursday. On this day, the police brought the accused to court.
For the sake of proper investigation
of the case, they applied for a five-day remand, the investigating officer of the case, Gulshan Police Station
Sub-Inspector Sadek Mia.
In view of the application, the court ordered to send them to prison. However, since the investigating officer of the case did not come to the court, the court set a date for the remand hearing in the presence of the investigation
officer on May 2. Earlier on Wednesday night, Nancy’s brother filed a case at Gulshan police station as
a plaintiff. Police arrested domestic worker Mst Tahmina and her
husband Shakil in the case.
Alamgir Hossain, Sub-Inspector of the General Registration Branch of Gulshan Police Station, confirmed the matter to the media. According to the complaint, Tahmina and Nipa used to work as maids in Nancy’s house. Shakil used
to come to take Tahmina almost from home. On April 5, Tahmina left without telling anyone at home. Before that, on February 26, Ripa left the house without telling anyone. On April 18, Nancy found her valuables including two
gold chains, National Film Awards, diamond’s locket missing from the cupboard. The value of which is Tk3 lakh
21 thousands mentioned in the case.
On Thursday night, Nancy told this correspondent, “The National Film Award gold medal, two gold chains around my daughter’s neck and two
earrings were kept in the wardrobe.
A few days ago I went to clean the wardrobe and saw that they were not there. Later I informed the matter
to Gulshan police station.”
Nancy also told this correspondent, “We understood that this could happen in the case of the maid leaving suddenly. Later, the maid Tahmina and her husband are called and made to understand that gold jewellry is very important, if they have taken it then let them give it. No need for other jewellry. But they did confess. Later, during the police interrogation, the maid’s younger sister, Mia, was hunted down by Tahmina and took them away. It was taken in a garbage bag, So that no one can doubt.”
