5 candidates now to vie for Ctg-8 JS seat

Two more people got back their candidature in Chattogram-8 seat by-election. On Tuesday as directed by the court, their symbols were allotted by the Returning Officer. Now there are five candidates in the polling field. Polling will be held on April 27.
National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Kamal Pasha got the party symbol mango. And independent candidate Mir Mohammad Ramzan Ali got one star.
Six candidates submitted their nomination papers on the last day of nomination papers.
On the day of selection of nomination papers, the NPP party nominated candidate on the charge of loan default. Kamal Pasha and independent candidate Mir Md accused of fake signatures of one percent of voters. Ramzan Ali’s nomination was canceled by the Returning Officer. They appealed to the High Court against the cancellation of nomination papers.
The court directed the Election Commission to return their candidature. Chattogram Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer Muhammad Hasanuzzaman said, “The Honourable High Court has directed National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Kamal Pasha and independent candidate Mir Mohammad Ramzan Ali to participate in the election with allotment of symbols. Pursuant to that directive, symbols have been allotted to two persons.”
