CMCH starts Thyroid-hormone tests

For the first time after its establishment, the pathology department of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital is going to start all kinds of tests of thyroid and hormones. Patients will get this service from this week. Thyroid and hormone tests can be done at CMC’s pathology department for at least a fifth of the cost compared to private labs. Until now, the patients of this hospital had to run to private labs for these tests.
Due to this, ordinary patients had to spend extra money and suffer. However, after 63 years of establishment, as these testing programs have been started, on the one hand, the patients will save money, as well as the suffering will be reduced.
It is known that the thyroid-hormone tests to be launched in CMC Hospital’s pathology department can be done by patients at five to six times the price of private hospitals.
Among these, where TSH is done at the private level for 850 to 1000 taka, it can be done at CMC Hospital for only Tk200. T-3 and T-4 are done for Tk900 to Tk1200 in private but the same test can be done in CMC Hospital for Tk200 only. And FT-3 and FT-4 can be done at Tk1500 to Tk1600 in the private sector but can be done at CMC Hospital for only Tk250. Prolactin test can be done at CMC Hospital for only Tk250. Although this test is taken from Tk1500 to Tk1700 depending on the type of private lab, a CMCH sources said.
