Pro-Awami League and pro-BNP lawyers of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Thursday again engaged into an altercation and chase and counter chase during the Iftar party of the organisation.
Both the camps of the lawyers are alleging each other for vandalising the hall rooms of the SCBA in where the Iftar parties were arranged.
SCBA executive committee, formed recently by a one-sided voting, and the ad hoc committee, that was also formed recently countering the formal body, organised the Iftar parties separately.
When the members of the ad hoc committee of the association entered the hall No 2 and tried to pull up the banner, the pro-Awami League lawyers took it away. At that time, scuffle and chase took place between the lawyers of the two sides.
Pro-BNP lawyers then marched with black flags and entered the hall. At that time they were seen to throw the chairs and tables. After that, lawyers from both sides protested at the association building till 4.30 pm.
However, both the sides are blaming each other for vandalizing the hall rooms during the Iftar parties. Advocate Jaglul Kabir, a pro-Awami lawyer alleged that the pro-BNP lawyers vandalised the hall rooms without any reason.
However, Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum SC unit, denied the allegation. The vandalising was happened due to their internal conflict, added the lawyer.
