Former South African cricketer Nic Pothas has been appointed as the new Assistant Coach of the Bangladesh Cricket team.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday Pothas has signed a two-year agreement and will join the squad in the UK for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland.
Pothas has an impressive coaching career spanning over a decade. He had previously worked as the head coach of West Indies and Sri Lanka, as well as performing the roles of assistant coach and fielding coach for the West Indies and lead fielding coach for Sri Lanka.
Prior to his appointment with Bangladesh, Pothas was the wicketkeeping coach for Hampshire County Cricket Club.
Pothas expressed his excitement at working with Bangladesh, saying that the team has exceptional talent, and he believes they have some exciting years ahead.
“I am honoured to commit to the Bangladesh National Team. The depth and array of talent running through Bangladesh is exceptional and I believe we have some exciting years ahead,”
