Ireland fight back

Ireland fought back scoring 286 for the loss of eight wickets in the second innings on the third day of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
Earlier, Bangladesh piled up a huge total of 369 in the first innings on the second day (Wednesday).
Electing to bat first, Ireland scored 214 in the first innings on the first day (Tuesday).
Ireland had 131-run lead in the second innings.
Ireland resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 27 for the loss of four wickets.
Harry Tector resumed his second innings with the over-night score of eight runs, while Peter Moor resumed his second innings with the over-night score of 10 runs.
Peter Moor could add more six runs on the third day as he (16) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off Shoriful Islam when Ireland’s score was 51 for the loss of five wickets.
Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker mended the innings contributing together 72 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Tector was trapped leg before wicket by Taijul Islam when the visitors’ total was 123 for the loss of six wickets.
Tector hit a sedate 56. His 159-ball innings was studded with seven fours and a sixer.
After Tector’s departure, Tucker and Andy McBrine added together 111 runs in the seven-wicket stand before Tucker was caught at the extra cover by Shoriful Islam off Ebadot Hossain when Ireland’s total was 234 for the loss of seven wickets.
Tucker notched up a marvelous 108. His 162-ball innings was decorated with 14 fours and a sixer. It was debutante Tucker’s maiden Test century.
Then, Andy McBrine and Mark Adair scored together 31 runs for the eighth wicket partnership before Adair (13) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off Taijul Islam when the tourists’ score was 265 for the loss of eight wickets.
Andy McBrine remained unbeaten with 71 runs. His 144-ball knock had eight fours and a sixer.
Graham Hume remained unbeaten with nine runs.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam was the day’s most successful bowler. He captured four wickets in the space of 86 runs.
Shoriful Islam and Ebadot Hossain took one wicket each for 35 and 36 runs respectively.
