Mou at the top of modelling for 34 years

In 1989, Sadia Islam Mou first stepped into modelling. At that time, a contract was signed with her for a record fee of Tk 1 lakh in an advertisement of shampoo. Since then she is the highest paid female model in Bangladesh. It is a world record to reign as a top model for 34 years.
How it was possible to maintain this excellence for so many years, the stories behind that are told by Sadia Islam Mou recently in the special Eid event ‘Ranga Sokal.’
This special Eid episode of Maasranga Television’s regular programme ‘Ranga Sokal’ will be broadcast on the second day of Eid at 7:00am.
In addition to being a model, Sadia Islam Mou is a talented dancer. She used to practice music with her father during childhood. If she continued to practice music regularly, she would have been known as a musician today. Because Mou’s father late Saiful Islam was a popular musician. In the 60s, he was called ‘Hemonto’ of the East Bengal. Saiful Islam also lent his voice for playback songs in several movies including ‘Ankabanka’, ‘Badshah’, and ‘Aponjon’.
On July 3, 1995, Sadia Islam Mou’s first television drama titled ‘Abhimane Anubhobe’ was aired. Mou was forced to act at that time. Even on the morning of the shooting day, Mou requested the playwright-director Faria Hossain to take someone else instead of her.
Almost all the stars and directors in Dhallywood wanted Mou for the movie. Mou also got an offer to act in movie ‘Swajan,’ the remake of Bollywood’s movie ‘Saajan.’ After being reminded about this, Mou told this correspondent, “The kind of movies I want to make, those kinds of movies were not available then; but now being. If I get a story lead and playable character, of course I will work in movies.”
While talking about Mou, popular actor Mahfuz Ahmed said, “Mou is not only an amazing model and dancer but also a great actress. Eye work, expressions all together, if the talented filmmaker examines Sadia Islam Mou more, we could have seen a lot of good work of actress Mou. Mou’s honesty, sincerity, punctuality and talent – I believe will take her much further.”
