Actors Equity launches legal wing to protect rights of TV artistes

Actors Equity Bangladesh has taken a bold step
to ensure protection of Television artistes from bullying and harassment by launching a special legal wing. On Saturday,
a special press meeting was organised where Ahsan Habib Nasim, President of Actors Equity, along with several artistes talked to the media about the alarming issues,
said a press release.
While talking in this regard, Ahsan Habib Nasim said, “When artistes are unduly harassed and bullied, they feel a sense of crisis and suffer mentally due to the trauma.
The legal wing of Actors Equity Bangladesh will ensure that artistes never feel alone throughout their perils. If anyone tries
to defame an artiste, it creates a harmful image of our country. We have taken this initiative to prevent all misinformation and harassment against
our artistes.”
The legal team will have three lawyers who are
specialised to deal with such crisis and they are – Advocate Shah Manjurul Haque, Barrister Pritu Firoze and Advocate Hasan Ferdous Jewel. They will be providing all kinds of legal support to the artistes throughout their trial periods. ADC
Nazmul Islam and ADC Khondokar Lenin of the cyber crime department of the Police will assist them with their cases. Urmila Srabonti Kar, Law and Welfare Secretary of Actors Equity, will coordinate
the legal team.
Dolly Zahur, Azmeri Haque Badhan, Prova, Jyotika Jyoti, among
others, were also present on the occasion.
