Prothom Alo reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams, who has been sued under the Digital Security Act (DSA), was taken to Kashimpur Central Jail from Dhaka Central Jail on Friday.
A prison van carrying him reached Kashimpur Jail around 1:30pm, said Shahjahan Ahmed, superintendent of Kashimpur Jail 1.
Earlier, the journalist was presented before a Dhaka court on Thursday which ordered him to be sent to jail denying bail in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA) with Ramna police
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
On March 29, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) men in plainclothes picked up Shams from his residence in Ambagan area, adjacent to Jahangirnagar University, around 4:30 am.
The same day, a Jubo League leader filed a case under the Digital Security Act against Shams, accusing him of publishing a “false and fabricated report” on the Prothom Alo website.
