North South University (NSU) on Thursday held the completion ceremony for the 11th batch of the Bangladesh-Japan ICT Engineers’ Training Program (B-JET) at the Syndicate Hall. The program, in collaboration with NSU, was initiated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), NSU, and the University of Miyazaki (UoM) on February 24th, 2021.
Fumikatsu Honma, Executive Managing Director, SHINKOSHUPPANSHA KEIRINKAN CO., LTD, graced the ceremony as a special guest. Professor Keisuke Murakami, Ph.D., Vice President (International relations) of the University of Miyazaki, delivered the opening remarks.
The B-JET program aims to support the capacity development of Bangladeshi ICT engineers and future engineers who have the potential to create business networks between Japan and Bangladesh. Out of the trainees from the 11th batch, 50% have secured job opportunities in Japan through this program.
Prof. M. Ismail Hossain, Ph.D., Pro-Vice-Chancellor of NSU, awarded certificates. Prof. Mohammad Khasro Miah Ph.D, Director of the Career & Placement Center (CPC) of NSU, and Mr. Ranajit Kumar, Executive Director (Grade-1) of the Bangladesh Computer Council, also spoke at the ceremony.
In the closing session, Ms. Sanjida Haque, Senior program Officer at Japan International Cooperation Agency, Bangladesh office, attended as a Special Guest. Mr. Yasuhiro Akashi, Representative Director, CEO, Globalgeeks Inc., BJIT Group, and Ms. Sayuri Ogino, Representative Director B&M Inc also spoke.
Prof. M. Ismail Hossain expressed his hope that this collaboration would open enormous job opportunities for the Bangladeshi youth in the Japanese IT sector. At least 80 students will get a chance to enroll in this program every year.
