Badhon’s parents are proud, yet sad for the actress

Azmeri Haque Badhon won the Best Actress Award (for movie ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’)
at the 2021 National Film Awards.
The movie was directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad. The movie won National Film Awards in three categories – Best Actress, Best Child Artiste and Best Sound Engineer. But even then Badhon’s sadness remained.
Badhon was also very proud to receive the National Film Award as the first Best Actress in her life, and her parents were proud to receive this award. According to the actress, her parents also felt very honoured to attend the National Film Awards giving ceremony.
Badhon told this correspondent about winning the National Film Award for Best Actress, her parents’ pride, and then feeling sad about the movie’s success, “Of course, I am very happy and proud to win the National Film Award for the first time. I received this honour from the hands of honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Of course I like it very much. And this best moment of life was enjoyed by my parents and my only beloved daughter Saira from being present in the programme – this moment will never come again in this life. However, my parents felt very honoured to be present at the event. But it was difficult for them to stay in the event for a long time. This is my award dedicated to them who are deprived of freedom and rights all over the world. I want to see a world where men and women have equal rights, time respect and equal status. And my acted movie ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ has made Bangladesh’s cinema more internationally recognised in the world. It has made Bangladesh more respected on the world map. The film has been honoured at various festivals around the world. Considering that, I think the cinematography could have been honoured in a few more categories at the National Film Awards in the country. This sadness remains with me. Once again I have sincere gratitude and congratulations to the entire team of movie ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’.”
It is noted that the popular movie ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ was released in the theaters of the country on November 12, 2021.
Badhon played the lead role in this movie. The movie received an honorable mention at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, the world’s most prestigious film festival.
For the first time in this festival as a Bangladeshi movie in the official selection category, the movie made history.
