Ticket sale programme started
at Chattogram Railway Station with national identity card and birth certificate. A help desk has been set up at the station. There the registration process started from morning with mobile and NID.
On Wednesday, at around 11:00am, the programme was inaugurated by the General Manager of the eastern region of Chattogram Railway Station.
The speakers said that the process of selling tickets with national identity cards is an important step. Through this there will be no violence of black marketers. “You cannot travel by train without a ticket. The measures we have taken will cause temporary inconvenience to the passengers but they will get used to it later.”
It is known that intercity train tickets should be booked through verification of national identity card or birth certificate. Railway officials will verify the tickets through point of sale (POS) machines.
Legal action will be taken if anyone travels using another’s national identity card. This is part of the government initiative to stop ticket black market and establish Smart Bangladesh. Passengers can complete the registration process in the new system through NID or birth certificate or passport.
Chattogram Railway Station Master Zafar Alam presided over the opening ceremony, Chief Commercial Officer of Railway Eastern Region Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Divisional Railway Manager Md Abidur Rahman, Divisional Commercial Officer Iti Dhar, Divisional Transport Officer Tarek Mohammad Imran, Assistant Transport Officer (1) Md Moniruzzaman, Assistant Transport Officer (2) Ferdous Rajib, Assistant Commercial Officer Mehdi Hasan, Assistant Commercial Officer Khalilur Rahman were also present on the occasion, a railway sources said.
