Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed formally
inaugurated REHAB Fair on Thursday by cutting ribbon at Hotel Radison Blu as the chief guest.
He said that housing companies are developing multistoried buildings in the country. But how many developers obeying the building codes properly? CDA should keep an eye on this. A request to the developers, the medium size of flats should be explained to the customers. Many housing organisations are charging 25 to 30 per cent in the name of common area of the housing apartment, which is unethical. Such activities should be avoided.He also said that developers need to show more creativity. People’s refreshment should be kept in mind in constructing the buildings. In the event, the Land Minister announced that the land tax will be collected completely online from next Pahela Boishakh.
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said in the speech as the special guest that after giving the land to the developer, many organisations cannot hand over the land even after the expiry of the contract.
It is discrediting the developer. REHAB should take action in this case. Those who will not be members of REHAB should not be involved in housing business. As a city Mayor, my organization can do one thing to alleviate people’s
suffering. That is to stop giving trade license. However, this
proposal must come from REHAB. Meanwhile, the mayor urged the rehab members to keep the price of flats within the purchasing capacity of the middle class.
REHAB Vice President and Chattogram Regional Committee Chairman Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said that a master plan is being made in Chattogram.
A master plan should not be
created that everyone has questions about. There were many
problems with past master plans.
He demanded to create a secondary market for buying and selling flats and take the land registration fee to an affordable level.
