Chattogram Bureau :
BNP-Jamaat supported Oikya Parishad won nine posts including president in Chattogram District Lawyers Association elections. Besides, the Awami League-backed Lawyers Coordination Parishad won 12 positions including the General Secretary. The result was announced after counting the votes on Sunday after 3:30pm. Earlier on this day, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, voting was held in the auditorium of the association. Out of 5,309 voters, 4,145 cast their votes in the elections.
In total of 21 posts, including President and General Secretary, 10 editorial posts, 11 executive member posts.
There were a total of 42 candidates for the Coordination Parishad and Oikya Parishad in the election. Mohammad Nazim Uddin Chowdhury of Oikya Parishad won by getting 2 thousand 682 votes. His nearest rival Mantosh Barua of the Coordination Parishad got 1 thousand 396 votes.
ASM Bajlur Rashid of the Coordination Parishad won the post of General Secretary by getting 2 thousand 280 votes. Closest rival Oikya Parishad, Hasan Ali Chowdhury got 1 thousand 824 votes.
