‘Bangabandhu’s homecoming a blessing for Bengali nation’

Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid today said Bangabandhu’s return to the country on January 10, 1972 is a great pride and blessing for the Bengali nation.
“Such an event is very rare in the history of the world. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman never made any concessions on the question of his principles and ideals for the people of Bengal,” he said.
He also said Bangabandhu was also ready to sacrifice his life in the prisons of Pakistan for the liberation and freedom of the people of the country.
Professor Rashid said this while addressing a virtual discussion organized here by the university on the occasion of the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the chief guest.
Professor Kamlesh Chandra Roy, Convener of the Observance Committee of the Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman presided over the virtual event.
Pro Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina and its Treasurer Professor Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahamed addressed the discussion as special guests.
Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of BRUR Mohd Mahamudul Haque read out the keynote article in the discussion.
Member Secretary of the Homecoming Day Observance Committee of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Homecoming Day Syed Anwarul Azim moderated the event.
President of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Md. Shariful Islam, BRUR Registrar Mohammad Alamgir Chowdhury, BRUR unit Chhatra League President Pomel Barua, among others, spoke.
Earlier in the morning, the Vice-chancellor, Pro Vice-chancellor and Treasurer placed wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu marking the day.
Teachers, students, officials and employees of different faculties, departments and offices of the university were present on the occasion.
