Hundreds of families survive by selling pitha in Ishwardi

At the beginning of winter, seasonal pitha shops have accumulated in the streets of the city or village. This pitha is a source of extra income for some, the main means of livelihood for some. Hundreds of families in Ishwardi now survive by selling pitha. Some have lost their jobs due to Corona, while others have lost their capital and other small businesses have closed down. Having collected a small amount of capital, he started selling pitha. It can be seen in different areas, low income people have set up pitha shops in different intersections and neighbourhoods. Old bus stand of the city, railway gate, in front of municipal super market, in front of post office, college intersection, these pitha shops are sitting in different areas. Both men and women are now selling pitha all over Ishwardi.
At the beginning of Poush, along with the winter. The tradition of rural Bengal may not be seen much anymore. There is a lot of trouble in making pitha at home in the busy life of a citizen. Therefore, winter mobile pitha shops have been established at various intersections in Ishwardu. People are thronging these shops to taste pitha in the morning and afternoon. The number of customers increases after evening. The sale is going on till 12 midnight. Everyone in the house went out with the family to eat hot pies in the frost-cold environment.
It can be seen on Thursday night, hot steamed pitas are coming out of the clay oven one after another. Customers are either eating or taking away. Chitai in some oven with steamed pitha, egg or other pitha in some. Cheetui Pitha is accompanied by various fillings. Various ingredients including garlic-chili batter, coriander batter, chutki, black cumin, mustard filling. But Vapa and Chitai Pitha are more appreciated. The price is Tk 5 to Tk10 each. Apart from this, various types of pithas including Puli, Vapa, Teler Pitha, Kalai Ruti, Pati Sapta are available in pitha shops established in elite areas.
