Nurjahan Alim’s initiatives with her father Abdul Alim

legend Abdul Alim’s daughter and listeners’ choice popular singer Nurjahan Alim, some works are being done with her father. Through the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Bangladesh, an application has already sent to the Karachi Radio to bring back Abdul Alim rendered 200 songs to Bangladesh officially. For this reason, Nurjahan Alim is giving huge efforts for last few days. However, the singer has planned to publish a book on her father in upcoming Ekushey Book Fair 2023, said Nurjahan Alim.
Nurjahan Alim told this correspondent that she has urged to send writings about her father to the lyricist of Abdul Alim rendered popular song titled ‘Kolokolo chholochholo nodi kore tolomolo, AKM Abdul Aziz’s daughter Nadira Begum, Hasan Motiur Rahman, among others. “If everybody sends me writings in time, then I can publish the book on my father,” said the singer.
She also said two years ago, Nurjahan Alim and her family applied and requested to the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation to name Khilgaon Flyover after her father’s name. As her father Abdul Alim was residing in Khilgaon, so they applied to rename the flyover by her father’s name.
Meanwhile, Nurjahan Alim has shown her keen interest to make a short film on her father. She will give direction of this short film. With the story written by Shamsul Islam Babu, life stories of a folk emperor will be presented in the story of the short film. Nurjahan Alim has already sought government grant for making this short film.
The singer strongly believe that for the huge contribution of her father in the field of folk music in Bangladesh, she will get the grant from the present government.
Basically Nurjahan Alim is busy with her father’s works. After few days, she will release her rendered song titled ‘Bondhu durdine tomar pashe amito chhilam, ekhon tomar su’dinkale ami koy roylam,’ which music was composed by late Ali Akbar Rupu and lyrics were written by Liton Adhikary Rintu. Basically the song was done two years ago.
Today is the birthday of Nurjahan Alim. While talking about her birthday and other issues, the singer told this correspondent, “In fact, right now I cannot concentrate to my own works. To bring back my father’s songs from Karachi Radio, I have to go to the Secretariat for various times. I have also applied for renaming the Khilgaon Flyover. To publish book on father, I cannot manage time now. In the meantime, I will make a short film on my father. For this reason, I have also applied for seeking grants from the government. Overall, I have no plan with my birthday. After successfully done of these works on my father, then I will get relief and will feel peace.”
