On the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day, a joint initiative
of Chattogram Press Club and Chattogram Journalists’ Union held a discussion and tribute in front of Bangabandhu Mural of Press Club on Wednesday (December 14). Press Club President Ali Abbas presided over the event.
General Secretary of Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ), M Shamsul Islam moderated the Martyrs Intellectual Day discussion session by Press Club General Secretary Farid Uddin Chowdhury. CUJ President Tapan Chakraborty, Press Club Senior Vice President Md Salahuddin Reza, former president of Chattogram Press Club Kalim Sarwar, former president of CUJ Riaz Haider Chowdhury, former chairman of Journalists Cooperative Housing Society Moinuddin Quadri Shawkat, president of TV Journalists’ Association Nashiruddin Tota, vice president of Ctg Press Club Sam Ibrahim, joint secretary general of BFUJ Mohsin Kazi, Joint Secretary of Ctg Press Club Nazrul Islam, Former General Secretary of Press Club Mohsin Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of CUJ Saidul Islam were also present.
Speakers said, “We have to learn from history. Those who love the country, love freedom and who hold the great liberation war of 71 in their heart, they must work unitedly. On this day in 1971, those who wanted to demoralise the entire nation by carrying out barbaric attacks are still trying to create anarchy at various times. But due to the strong and timely action of the Prime Minister, the country is moving forward by dealing with these conspiracies.”
