President urges Rotarians to work for welfare of disasters’ victims

President M Abdul Hamid today urged the humanitarian organizations, specially Rotary International , to come forward for ensuring the welfare of people affected by natural disasters, including the Covid-19 pandemic.

The President came up with the call as a six-member delegation of Rotary International led by its President Jennifer E. Jones paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this evening.

During the meeting, Jennifer E. Jones apprised the President of Rotary International’s activities, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS.
 

At this time, Jones also highlighted various activities of Rotary International in Bangladesh. Besides, she also praised the programmes undertaken by the incumbent government to deal with Covid-19.

Referring to various natural disasters, including climate change affect, those are making the whole world more unbearable, President Hamid urged the Rotarians to contribute more in solving these problems.

The Head of State emphasized on increasing the partnership between the governments and citizens of different countries in establishing world peace.

He urged the affluent people of the society to take initiative instead of depending on the government to solve various local problems.

Secretaries concerned to President were also present there.
