Alamgir turns 73 today

Today is the birthday of legendary film actor, producer and director MA Alamgir. He will complete 72 today. He is now guardian of members of the film industry. Several times National Film Award receiver this legendary actor got the Lifetime Achievement Award in the National Film Awards in 2019. As a director, he last made movie Ekti Cinemar Golpo.
Alamgir was born on April 3 in 1950 at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. He passed his childhood and young age in the capital’s Tejgaon area. Though he started his acting career during college life he first stood in front of camera for movie Aamar Jonmobhumi, directed by late Alamgir Kumkum on June 24, 1972. Before releasing of this movie in the middle of 1973, Alamgir worked in Sirajul Islam’s Dossurani, Azizur Rahman’s Otithi, Alamgir Kumkum’s Momota, and Mohor Chand’s Heera. From that time to till date he acted in 225 movies. Jhumka was his produced first movie.
Once Alamgir received training in music from Syed Abdul Hadi in a school in the capital’s Green Road area. He first lent his voice for play-back song for Mostofa Mehmud’s movie Monihar under music composition by Sotto Saha. Gazi Mazharul Anwar wrote lyrics of the song. He first got National Film Award for Kamal Ahmed directed movie Maa O Chhele. Later, he got this award for eight times more.
