DU admission seekers’ hunger strike continues

Over 100 students continued their indefinite hunger strike at the Central Shaheed Minar for the fourth day on Saturday demanding that the Dhaka University authorities withdraw its decision not to allow them to sit for its admission test twice.
At least 15 striking students fell sick during the hunger strike on Saturday. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where they were given intravenous saline.
Later, they returned to the Shaheed Minar and joined the strike again.
The students, who went on the strike on Wednesday to press home their demand, announced that they will continue their programme
until the DU authorities conceded to their demand.
The Dhaka University authorities decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students to appear at its admission tests for a single year from the 2015-16 academic session, aiming to create an equal opportunity for all the aspirants.
