Now Narail Court summons Latif

A court here on Monday summoned sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique for hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslims with his disparaging remarks about Prophet Muhammad (pubh), hajj and Tablig Jamaat.
Following a case filed by freedom fighter Prof Uzir Ahmed Khan, Judicial Magistrate-1 Mohammad Salehuzzaman asked the former Posts, Telecommunications and Information Communication Technology Minister to appear before the court on January 20 next.
Latif Siddique made some derogatory remarks against the Prophet, hajj and Tablig Jamaat at a
views-exchange meeting with expatriates from Tangail in New York on September 28.
Latif Siddique said he is against hajj and Tablig Jamaat more than he is against the Jamaat-e-Islami. “During hajj, so much manpower is wasted. Over 20 lakh people have gone to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj. They’ve no work, no production and they only cause deduction.”
“Some 20 lakh Tablig Jamaat people get together annually who don’t do any work except halting traffic movement across the country,” he added.
The remarks made by Siddique triggered widespread criticisms both at home and abroad.
Later, he was sacked from the cabinet as well as Awami League as its presidium member.
