Six get life term in Raju murder case

A Chattogram court has sentenced six people to life imprisonment in the Nurul Alam Raju murder case. Judge AKM Mozammel Haque of the Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal handed down the verdict yesterday (December 28) at noon.
The convicts are Zahir, Khorshed, Rakib, Ayub, Emon and Dipu. Emon and Dipu were present in the court during the verdict. Ayub Khan, public prosecutor of the Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal, toldmedia that the court had sentenced six people to life imprisonment and fined them Tk 10,000 in the Raju murder case. 14 accused have been acquitted.
The case is pending in another court as the two accused are children. Defendant’s lawyer Ahmed Kamrul Islam Sajjat told that an appeal would be lodged in the high court against the verdict.
