Building of a self-reliant and dignified Bangladesh is possible through establishing equal rights of the women at all levels, speakers said at the concluding ceremony of a three-day training course here recently.
They said flourishing leadership and talent of the grassroots women through enhancing their capabilities and skill building would help to advance the nation through achieving the set targets of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). They were addressing concluding ceremony of the three-day 154th foundation course to flourish women leadership at the grassroots organised for women leaders at Hotel Tilottoma Community Centre in the city.
Bikoshito Nari Network (BNN) and the Hunger Project Bangladesh jointly organised the course for forty grassroots level women community leaders for enhancing their capabilities and capacities to flourish women leadership in the rural areas.
General Secretary of Rangpur unit of Shushashoner Janno Nagorik (SHUJAN) and valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain presided over the concluding ceremony arranged for distributing certificates among the participant grassroots level women leaders.
Senior Vice-president of SHUJAN Principal Fakhrul Anam Benzu, teacher of the Department of Bengali of Begum Rokeya University Dr Tuhin Wadud and Secretary of city unit of SHUJAN MG Sajjad attended as the guests of honour.
Joint President of BNN Safura Reza Chowdhury, officials and trainers of The Hunger Project Zamirul Islam, Nazrul Islam, Tuhin Afsari, Kazi Fatema Barnali, Rajesh Dey Raju and Polash Mandal also addressed the ceremony.
In their speeches, the speakers said flourishing women leadership has become an essence of the time for establishing gender parity to empower the women and improve their socioeconomic conditions in achieving sustainable national uplift. They said all sorts of discrimination, repression, violence and torture being faced by the womenfolk in families, society and in every sphere of life must come to an end to pave the way for smooth flourishing of women leadership at all levels.
They suggested women leaders to remain united, create excellent relations among them, improve leadership quality and acquire more knowledge and experience in ensuring their rights and access to every sphere of life in building a dignified Bangladesh.
