The World Environment Day 2021 is being observed on Saturday in the country like elsewhere in the globe through virtual programmes in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Ecosystem Restoration’.
Pakistan would organize the main programme of World Environment Day this year as the host country.
The day will kick off the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), a global mission to revive billions of hectares, from forests to farmlands, from the top of mountains to the depth of the sea.
World Environment Day is the UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
Since its inception in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
