Relaxed lockdown at Shibalaya

Many people in Shibalaya of Manikganj district are not seen following the lockdown directives in different places though the district administration is in a tough position to enforce the lockdown urging people for voluntary compliance with health rules and lockdowns.
The two important places of this upazila are Paturia and ArichaGhat. People from 21 districts travel to the South-West of the country through these two ghats. The government has announced a lockdown to prevent the spread of corona virus across the country since morning. Meanwhile, the upazila administration and the police have been conducting raids at the two ghats since morning to enforce the lockdown.
A fine of around Tk 60,000 was imposed in 55 cases for not complying with the lockdown from morning till noon.
As soon as the administration and the police leave, people are crossing the ferry and trawler without following the health rules. The patrol has been intensified as the demand of the upazila administration has increased.
Ignoring the lockdown at both the ports, people returning to the capital are returning to their destinations by adding ferries and trawlers. At this time, they are fleeing whenever they see the administration. Realizing the opportunity, he is crossing the ghat again. However, Shibalaya UNO has fined the trawler owners by setting up a mobile court. Even after that, efforts are being made to turn a blind eye to the police administration.
ShibalayaUpazilaNirbahi Officer BM Ruhul Amin Rimon said the operation is being carried out to implement lockdown in various important Hat Bazar areas of ShibalayaUpazila. Patroria has been patrolling in different areas of the upazila including ArichaGhat since morning. A fine of Tk 60,000 has been imposed till noon. Patrolling has been intensified in important areas of the upazila by the upazila administration and police to enforce lockdown.
BIWTC’s Paturia Ghat Manager Md. Abdus Salam said that more than four hundred trucks carrying goods have been crossing the PaturiaGhat for the last few days.
All ambulances and emergency vehicles are closed. Some passengers are getting on the ferry as the launch is closed. Shibalaya Police Station OC FirozKabir said the police had been on the ground since morning to enforce the lockdown. If anyone disobeys this instruction and goes out, action is being taken against him.
