A case was filed against 9 people including Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Ahad on charges of embezzling money in exchange for cooperation in extracting stones illegally in Sylhet.
The case was later sent to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for further investigation after accepting by the court.
The accused were identified as Gowainghat Police Station OC Abdul Ahad, SI Abdul Mannan, Imran Hossain, Alauddin, Samed, Faizul Islam, Md. Feroz, Rahmat Ali and Sanu Mia.
A freedom fighter named Inshan Ali, a resident of Jaflong Nayabasti area of Gowainghat Police Station, filed the case in the Senior District and Sessions Judge’s Court of Sylhet on Sunday.
The plaintiff lawyer Advocate Mohammad Shah Alam confirmed the matter.
Advocate Mohammad Shah Alam said the court had accepted the case and sent it to the ACC for investigation.
