AFC cancels U-16, U-19 championships in 2021 over health risks

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has decided to cancel a number of Asian competitions to safeguard the interests of all members, the AFC reported on Monday. The Asian Football Confederation cancelled its U16 and U19 championships in Bahrain and Uzbekistan respectively, along with the regional futsal tournament in Bahrain and beach soccer cup in Thailand. The events were axed “taking into consideration the uncertainty and risks in view of the current pandemic”, a statement said.
