Khulna face Chattogram in final today

Gemcon Khulna will face Gazi Group Chattogram in the final of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur today. The match begins at 4.30pm. Private satellite channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the ‘Home of Cricket’.
Gemcon Khulna stormed into the final defeating Gazi Group Chattogram by 47 runs in the first Qualifier match at the same venue on December 14.
On the other hand, Gazi Group Chattogram reached the final beating Beximco Dhaka by seven wickets in the second Qualifier match at the same venue on December 15.
Head Coach of Gemcon Khulna Mizanur Rahman Babul said, ” We shall miss Shakib Al Hasan in the final but we always give priority to family reason.”
It may be mentioned that Shakib left Dhaka for USA on Tuesday as his father-in-law died on Wednesday.
Babul said, ” Despite the absence of Shakib, the players are inspired as they are going to play in the final. We have taken part in the tournament to clinch the trophy and we shall try to show our best in this vital match.”
Head Coach of Chattogram Mohammad Salahuddin kept Khulna ahead in the high-voltage match for their experience.
He does not give up hope to beat Khulna and win the trophy.
He said, “During the players’ draft, we tried to recruit experienced players, who are experts for every position on T20 Cricket. I think our middle order is up to the mark and they will perform better when the situation demands.”
He however wants consistency from his players like the round robin league phase.
“Throughout the competition, we had consistency. For one last time, we want to be consistent when we face Khulna in the final,” he concluded.
