Widow, daughter gang raped in Habiganj: 2 held

A woman and her daughter were gang-raped by some youths in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district on Friday night.
Police arrested two people in connection with the incident this afternoon.
According to locals, a group of youths entered the house of the victims and raped the woman (45) and her daughter (25) after tying their hands and mouths.
They also looted gold ornaments and stole cows from the house of the victims.
Later, the victims freed themselves and called for help.
Abdul Malek, a union parishad member and general secretary of the union unit Awami League, said the victims had identified a young man.
Champak Dham, officer-in-charge (additional duty), said, the victims filed a case in connection with the incident.
Mohammad Ullah, superintendent of police in Habiganj, said two youths were arrested and the lawmen were trying to arrest other accused.
The arrestees were identified as Shakil Ahmed, 22, and Harun Miah, 25, of Garamchhari area in the upazila.
The mother and daughter were sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital for medical examination on Sunday afternoon.
