The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) was held in a festive mood at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the city on Saturday.
The AGM got underway at 11.00am with the presence of 135 out of total 139 councilors as well as the members of BFF’s Executive Committee. The AGM concluded at 1.00pm.
Incumbent President of Bangladesh Football Federation Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin presided over the AGM.
General Secretary of BFF Abu Nayeem Shohag presented his report, while Senior Vice-President of BFF and Chairman of the Finance Committee Abdus Salam Murashedy, MP, presented the financial statement in presence of the delegates.
After the approval of the financial statement, the AGM came to an end for the lunch break.
After the AGM, the election started at 2.00pm and came to an end at 6.00pm.
The delegate will exercise their voting right to elect the 21-member Executive Committee including the President, a Senior Vice-President, four Vice-Presidents and 15 Members of theExecutive Committee.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin-led Sammillito Parishad had a full panel of 21 members, while Sheikh Md Aslam, who was the candidate of Senior Vice-President, led the 19-member Samonnya Parishad.
Former general secretary of BFF Harunur Rashid said, ” I didn’t see such kind of peaceful AGM. One councillor acknowledged a mistake in financial report. Later, the mistake was corrected. And all the proposals were approved by the delegates.”
President of Bashundhara Kings Imrul Hasan said, ” The AGM was held in a good shape and peacefully. All proposals were approved by the delegates.”
Meanwhile, as expected, Badal Roy — one of the three candidates contesting for the BFF presidential post — did not turn up at the venue due to physical issue. However, the other two candidates — incumbent President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin and former national footballer Shafiqul Islam Manik — were present at the venue since morning.
Meanwhile, FIFA President Gianni Infantino wished good luck to the candidates contesting Saturday’s BFF Elective Congress, currently taking place at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.
The Swiss-Italian in a video message also thanked everyone at the BFF who were involved in the electoral congress.
“First of all, I am very pleased to be able to address your Elective Congress. I also wish all the candidates the very best of luck for the congress; continue to work for football and continue to work for Bangladesh,” said Infantino.
He said, “Unfortunately, I cannot be there with you physically but believe me I am there with my heart. The situation due to Covid-19 does not allow us to travel around the world. But even if we are distant, we still are together and football will play even a bigger role in the months to come to bring people together. I would like to thank everyone for what you are doing for football in Bangladesh, in Asia and actually all over the world.”
