The national cricketers, who took part in the individual training session arranged by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) at the different venues across the country, will restart their training after Eid-ul-Azha. The first phase of individual training came to an end on Tuesday. A good number of cricketers of Bangladesh Cricket team took part in their individual training. Mushfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mohammad Mithun, Shafiul Islam, Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, Nurul Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Anamul Haque Bijoy took part in the individual training.
Senior Media Manager of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Rabeed Imam said to this Reporter on Tuesday, ” The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet finalised that the second phase of the training of national cricketers will be held individually or it will be a full-fledged coaching.”
If the number of players increased, in that case, the BCB might opt for group training. Every group may consist of little number of players initially.
Bangladesh Cricket Board had postponed several series due to the coronavirus pandemic, including a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka, which was scheduled for July. The two-Test series against New Zealand at home, supposed to be held in August was also postponed and the Asia Cup, T20 World Cup also postponed. BCB’s next biggest revenue source in 2020 remains the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), scheduled for the end of the year.
BCB is currently looking at the possibility of resuming the Dhaka Premier League, the domestic one-day competition, in September, as hundreds of non-contracted cricketers are struggling financially.
