Md Altaf Hussain :
Fruits are a healthful food that provide the body with many beneficial nutrients, including fiber, vitamins, and minerals. There are many myths surrounding the best times to eat fruit, but little scientific evidence to back them up. There is no perfect time of day for eating fruit. Most people can pair fruit with or without a meal at any time of day. People can, however, plan their fruit intake to help promote weight loss or reduce the effects on blood sugar levels.
Morning time is better for eating fruit
The right time to eat fruit is in the morning. By eating fruits on an empty stomach, the digestive system of our body breaks the sugar present in the fruit very quickly, due to which the body gets the full benefit of the nutrients present in the fruit. Fruit contains abundant nutrients which help in protecting the body from diseases and also helps in removing weakness and increasing blood counts in the body. Therefore, in order to consume all the nutrients present in fruits, fruits should be eaten in the morning.
Eat fruits in between meals
Besides the morning time, eating fruits between meals is also considered to be the best. In the intervals between two meals, the stomach is empty and various enzymes are secreted in the stomach, due to which the speed of digestion gets accelerated and the sugar in the fruit is easily digested. It provides the body with greater nutrients, fibre, mineral and other elements. In the same way, evening time is also suitable for eating fruit.
When to avoid fruits
Eating fruits at night or just before you sleep can do more harm than good to your health. Fruits can raise your blood sugar level and cause discomfort in sleep. However, experts also ascertain a gap of 30 minutes before and after meals to eat fruits. If eaten right before or after meals, it may lead to indigestion because fruits are high in fiber and fiber needs time to digest.
For diabetic patients, pairing fruit with meals can be a bit risky. It can reduce the speed of sugar from fruit to reach the small intestine, thereby leading to rising blood sugar levels. It is necessary to keep a gap of two hours between fruit and meals.
Moreover, citrus fruits like grapes and oranges must be avoided in the morning or immediately after a meal as they can increase acid formation in the stomach which can further cause bloating and indigestion.
Diabetes and fruit separate from meals
The best time for people with diabetes to eat fruit is 1-2 hours either before or after a meal. Eating fruit with a meal can interfere with digestion, and that this can especially affect a person with diabetes, due to common co-occurring digestive problems.
Eating fruits separately, a person with diabetes can benefit from pairing fruits with other foods that are high in protein, fiber, or fats. According to research, protein, fiber, and fat help the stomach slow the release of food into the small intestine. This way, the body absorbs smaller amounts of sugar at a time, which limits its effect on blood sugar levels.
Research also shows that soluble fiber can reduce a rise in blood sugar, which can be very beneficial for people with diabetes. In addition, enjoying a piece of fruit before a meal can help deter overeating, as it aids in feeling full sooner.
Pre and post workout
Eating fruits before and after any workout is best to provide instant energy to your body to perform strength developing exercise and fitness workout.
After waking up or before any workout, your body is at rest position. To activate your system, you need an immediate supply of energy that doesn’t harm your body even during exercise. So eating fruits before a workout is the best way to provide healthy nutrients as a great energy source.
The same thing happens even after a workout; your body loses all of its energy in performing heavy workouts. At that time drinking water helps to gain the water loss in sweating, and for energy recovery, you need some low calories and high fiber rich fruits to fulfill nutrient supply to the body.
