CCC to celebrate ‘Mujib Year’ in befitting manner : Mayor

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has undertaken a number of programs in Mujib Year so declared in observance of the centenary birth anniversary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Rahman . City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin n disclosed it while addressing the preparatory meeting of Count Down programs on the occasion of centenary birth anniversary held at CCC conference hall at Tiger-pass office premises last afternoon.
The meeting also decided to inaugurate the count down block of Mujib Year at MA Aziz Stadium gymnasium ground on Friday next .At 3 pm on same day, Prime Minister will inaugurate the 4 count down blocks of Mujib Year in the port city through video conference .On the occasion of Mujib Year, a colourful cultural function will also be held at 6pm at Gymnasium Hall .
Under the management of CCC, the areas comprising from Tiger-pass to Lalkhan Bazar , Kazir Dewri, Love Lane , Stadium areas, Mohra, Kapta Road Crossing, City Gate will be decorated with branding of Mujib Year. Besides, City Mayor has declared for installing murals of Bangabandhu at Battali Hills, Sheikh Russel Park of Pahartali and Barapool circle of Bangabandhu Sarak aimed at depicting the ideology of Bangabandhu to the next generations. In the meantime, four attractive Count Down block for Mujib Year already installed in the city including large one in front of Nagar Bhaban. The other three blocks at Outer Stadium.
Court Building and Shah Amanat Bridge Crossing. CCC is spending aboutTk.1.35 crores for the countdown blocks. City Mayor said the centenary birth anniv of Bangabandhu falls on March17 next and the CCC will launch yearlong programmes to celebrate the anniversary up to March 26, 2021.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan ,Additional Divisional Commissioner Dipak Chakraborty, Deputy commissioner Elias Hossain, Chief Executive Officer of CCC Md. S Hamsudoha, Chief Planner of CDA Shahinul Islam Khan, Managing Director of CWASA AKM Fazlullah, Director of DOE Asadur Rahman Mallick, Executive Engineer of PDB Wajed Kauser, Engr. Md. Nezam of PWD were present in it. 181 cartons cigar seized at AirportChattogram Bureau A vigilance team of National Security Intelligence seized 181 cartons of contraband foreign cigarettes , 3 mobile sets and one Ipad from a air passenger at Shah Amanat International airport, Chattogram yesterday morning.Airport Civil Aviation sources said Biman passenger Md. Kamaluddin arrived ‘ airport from Dubai in a Bangladesh Biman flight .
After checking the luggage of the passenger , recovered 13 2 cartons easy light brand cigars and 49 cartons of dunhill cigars. Besides, NSI team seized one mobile set and one IPad from the possession of the passenger. Kamaluddin hails from Raozan Uazila. NSI team handed over the seized cigars, mobile sets to airport customs for further necessary actions.
Year-long programmes on CWASA on Mujib Year undertaken: Chattogram Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (CWASA) has undertaken year long programmes to celebrate the centenary birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Mujib Year. In order to observe these year long work plans perfectly, a preparatory meeting was held on Monday with its Deputy Managing Director (Admin) Golam Hossain in the chair.
As per decisions of the meeting, these programs will be unveiled through hoisting of national flag on March 17 next and placing of wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, releasing of balloons and pigeons . The day long programs on March 17 next includes cutting of cake, distributions of sweets, colourful rally, discussions on life and ideals of Bangabandhu, Khatme Quran, Milad, & Doa Mahfil, easy and drawing competitions of children and juveniles and cultural functions.
‘The other weeklong programs from 17th March are illuminations, distribution of pure water free of cost, publication of calendar for 2021 upto March as a theme of Mujib Year and the water supplying programs through ATM booth device.
Meanwhile , the national condolence day will be celebrated on August 15 next in a befitting manner . In the assassination month of Bangabandhu, CWASA will undertake tree plantation programsin all’WASA installations, blooddonation programs, Ziarat of Bangabandhu Mazar in Tungipara, unveiling of Bangabandhu Corner in WASA Library, imbue against the misuse of water to children , installation of screen to exhibit the life-style and political life of Bangabandhu and projections of different services of ‘WASA .
To highlight the day , publication of special magazine, renovation and installation of toilet in city schools and conservancy campaign at CWASA head office and different water supply installations. WASA Managing Director Engr AKM
Fazlullah told The New Nation that ‘we want to utilize this great advantages of the centenary birth anniversary of Bangabandu ‘ in a right way .He further said every programs on the occasion will be implemented in fair and perfectly.
