CU student loses toes in train accident

A student of Chittagong University (CU) lost all toes of her right foot in a train accident at Sholoshahar Railway Station in the city on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Sharmin Akhter, a third-year student of Sociology Department of the university.
Witnesses said the victim lost her all the all toes of her right footand severely injured in left leg when the university-bound shuttle train was changing the route from ordinary line without giving any notice at around 3.10 pm at Sholoshahar Railway Station. She was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and was undergoing treatment in ward no-24. She is now out of danger. According to Sholoshahar Railway Station sources, an oil carrying train was detached in 2 no gate train line near to Sholoshahar RailwayStation.As a result,the train operation was stoped in ordinary route. The train authority alternatively used 3no route for CU shutte train from ordinary route.
Contructed, Sholoshahar Railway Station Master Tonmoy Chowdhury said that as oil carrying train detached in the route , university-bound shuttle train was operated in 3 no route alternatively.
A student was sitting in footboard of the train and lost her toes of her right foot. Authority is working to operate train in ordinary route.
CU Acting Proctor PranobMitra said that a student was severely injured in train accident . she was rescued and is going under treatment at CMCH.
