Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have found Aedes larvae in 22 buildings after inspecting a total of 379 buildings on Thursday.
The building owners were also fined Tk 4.44 lakh in total.
In the DNCC areas, five mobile courts as part of the corporation’s combing operation inspected 261 buildings and found Aedes breeding grounds in 18 houses yesterday,
according to a DNCC press release. The owners were fined a total of Tk 4 lakh for having Aedes larvae.
Since Tuesday, the DNCC officials have found Aedes larvae in 56 buildings after inspecting 658 buildings of Gulshan and Banani areas, the release said.
DSCC on Thursday inspected 118 houses and fined six of those a total of Tk 44,000 after finding larvae of Aedes mosquito and unclean environment.
Mobile courts of the DSCC conducted drives in Moghbazar, Hazaribagh, Fakirapul, and Hatkhola areas, said Uttam Kumar Roy, public relations officer of the city corporation.
Both Dhaka south and north city corporations are conducting such drives as a result of unprecedented rise of dengue cases this year.
Currently, the authorities of the city corporations are using insecticides twice a day one in the morning and the other in the evening to kill the mosquitoes.
DNCC and DSCC are using newly arrived insecticides Malathion and Deltamethrin respectively, the officials of the two corporation said.
Besides, awareness campaign is being conducted at schools and residential areas in the capital.
Meanwhile, Sylhet City Corporation on Thursday inspected some areas and fined two motor garages and seized a garage goods after finding larvae of Aedes mosquito and unclean environment.
Mobile courts of the corporation conducted the drive in Kadamtoly area in word No 26.
