Missing body found in Chakaria-Matamuhuri River

Mujibur Rahman (14), a madrasa student met a tragic death due to illegal sand extraction in the Matamuhuri river in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar yesterday.
He is the son of Md. Dudu Mia of South Hajian Amtali village. He is a student of class eight of Hajian Islamia Dakhil Madrasa.
His body was recovered from Hajian Point in Mattamuhuri River in the morning. The family members of the deceased said, on the previous day, at around 11:30 pm, Mujibur Rahman went to bring cattle from the river.
At that time, he disappeared after bathing. When he came down to take bath in the river, he could not get up after falling into a huge hole in the stubble caused by sand extraction.
Later, Chakaria Fire Service rescued the body by the divers team from Chittagong. On the other hand, the people are facing frequent accidents in the big hole due to the illegal sand evacuation from the Matamuhuri river.
They demanded strong intervention of the administration to stop these sand extraction.
