Bangladesh score 211 in the first innings

Bangladesh scored 211 in the first innings against New Zealand on the third day of the rain-interrupted second Test at Wellington in New Zealand on Sunday.
In reply, New Zealand were at the stumps at 38 for the loss of two wickets.
New Zealand trailed by 173 runs remaining with eight wickets.
Bangladesh made a good start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Shadman Islam put on together 75 runs before Shadman was caught at the first slip by Ross Taylor off Colin de Grandhomme.
After Shadman’s dismissal, Tamim and Mominul Haque added 44 runs for the second wicket partnership before Mominul (15) was caught behind by wicketkeeper BJ Watling off Neil Wagner when the team’s total was 119 for the loss of two wickets.
Later, Liton Das and Taijul Islam made a notable partnership. They contributed together 38 runs in the seven-wicket stand before Taijul (8) was trapped leg before wicket by Trent Boult when Bangladesh’s score was 206 for the loss of seven wickets.
After Taijul’s departure, Bangladesh batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
In-form Tamim Iqbal hit the day’s highest of 74. He hit 10 fours in his 114-ball innings before he was caught at the square leg by Tim Southee off Wagner when the tourists’ total was 134 for the loss of four wickets.
Tamim Iqbal reached his 27th Test half-century using 81 balls with six fours.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das made 33 from 49 balls featuring six fours.
Shadman, Soumya Sarkar added 27 and 20 runs respectively to the Bangladesh’s total.
Wagner captured four wickets at the cost of 28 runs, while Trent Boult grabbed three wickets instead of 38 runs.
Grandhomme, Southee, Matt Henry took one wicket each for 15, 52 and 67 runs respectively.
Later, Bangladesh bowlers dominated over New Zealand batsmen.
Opener Tom Latham (4) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Abu Jayed when the hosts’ score was just five.
Then Jeet Raval (3) was caught at the cover by Soumya Sarkar off Abu Jayed when the Kiwis total was eight for the loss of two wickets.
Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson were on 19 and 10 runs respectively before the bails were drawn for the third day.
Abu Jayed bagged a couple of wickets for 18 runs.
