Int’l confce on civil engineering at CUET

A two-day international conference, titled “Advances in Civil Engineering: ICACE-2018” began at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) on Wednesday.
The department of civil engineering of CUET organised the conference at its central auditorium.
Prof Abdul Mannan, chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), inaugurated the conference as chief guest while CUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was present as guest of honour.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Prof Abdul Mannan said civil engineers are playing a significant role in the country’s infrastructural development.
The UGC chairman also said civil engineers need to develop new strategies to implement construction works and mega projects.
“Apart from reducing the construction cost, engineers need to tackle the challenges of this sector to make their work more sustainable,” he added. More than 100 teachers from 10 countries are taking part at the conference. The conference will end today at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View hotel.
