The police counterterrorism unit has seized 500 active SIM cards during a raid at a Chattogram store.
The SIMs were found at the Siddique Enterprise store in the city’s Riazuddin Bazar’s Bahar Market on Sunday night, said Counterterrorism Inspector Aftab Hossein. Police arrested the store owner, 27-year-old Mizanur Rahman, during the raid based on a tip.
“There were 300 Grameen phone SIMs and 200 Teletalk SIMs,” Hossein said. “The raid was conducted based on a tip that the store issued false registrations for various SIM operators.”
“These SIMs are used in criminal activity.”
