BCB still hopeful of Shakib playing in Asia Cup
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB’s) chief selector Minhajul Abedin on Saturday said they are still hopeful about injured all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s preparation in the training camp ahead of the Asia Cup. The camp is scheduled to begin from August 27.
The star all-rounder Shakib, who earlier said he may go under surgery before the Asia Cup, was named in the 31-man preliminary squad for the tournament scheduled to be held between September 15 to 28 in UAE. Talking to the reporters on Saturday at Mirpur, Minhajul said they don’t have any update of Shakib’s surgery yet and as such they have not thought of Shakib’s replacement. He said they would start thinking about Shakib’s matter as soon as they receive update regarding his surgery but he hoped that Shakib would be able to join the camp.
