Missing fisherman’s body found in Meghna

Police recovered the body of a missing fisherman from the Meghna River in Ramgati upazila of Laxmipur yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Saidul Hawlader, 27, son of Zainal Hawlader, a resident of Hizla upazila of Barishal.
Saidul went out for fishing with fellow fisherman Abul Kalam in Meghna River on Thursday, but he jumped into the river from their boat after pirates attacked them, said Md Babul, businessman of Char Alexander ghat.
“Both of them worked at my boat,” said Babul, adding that Kalam is still missing.
Md Arichul Haque, officer in-charge of Ramgati police station, confirmed the matter.
The body was sent to Laxmipur hospital morgue for autopsy.
